Managing a climate education programme in four Kerala schools, from training facilitators to running the classroom sessions.
The project
Education for Ecological Transformation, a VentureVillage programme, helps school students understand climate change and ecological balance, and the part young people can play in a sustainable future. It ran in four schools:
- Rajagiri Public School, Ernakulam
- Alif Global School, Markaz Knowledge City
- MES Fatima Rahim Central School, Kaithapoyil
- MES Central School, Thalassery
What we did
We managed the programme from start to finish: logistics, partnerships, and a team of trained facilitators. It began with a facilitator training at Kerala Startup Mission, after which the new facilitators joined the NPoC team for the core sessions in schools.
In class, facilitators created space for students to think about environmental problems close to home and come up with bold, local ideas of their own.
What came of it
Students in four schools worked through what climate change means for their own surroundings, through a programme that combined ecological knowledge with participatory teaching.
